About Us

Ancilla Systems was created as a response by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to an increasingly complex and rapidly changing healthcare environment. Establishing a healthcare system provided a strategic response to business challenges focused on sharing human and financial resources. Over time, constant turmoil in the healthcare environment and diminishing resources made it increasingly challenging for Ancilla provider organizations to deliver high quality cost effective services.

Because of these changing factors, Ancilla and the Poor Handmaids decided to build new relationships and find partners willing to share the commitment of the PHJC’s in the communities where they served. Ancilla successfully identified new partners, owners and other relationships to strengthen and sustain these healthcare services.

As Ancilla Systems was divesting itself of its healthcare organizations, the Poor Handmaids were developing a new Ministry Model that recognized the changing ministries and their relationships to one another. From this Ministry Model based on the values and charism of the Poor Handmaids and focused on a more collaborative approach to ministry-wide relationships, Ancilla needed to revisit its mission and vision.

Through a smaller and refocused Board of Directors, Ancilla developed new mission and vision statements. As a result of the changes and transitions that Ancilla experienced in finding new healthcare partners, the Ancilla team remained flexible, collaborative, informed and committed. With this approach and through the skills and strengths that the Ancilla team had developed, Ancilla and the Poor Handmaids felt that the “new” Ancilla could best become a service ministry in assisting Ancilla Domini Sisters, Inc. and the PHJC ministries. In sharing its talents, experience and collaborative spirit, Ancilla remains committed to serving others.
